這款Chapter Audio後級重量僅20公斤,
可別因此以為用料不夠紮實,實際上Chapter Two體態輕盈的秘密在於使用先進的交換式電源,

這款Chapter Two後級在8 ohms下具備200瓦的輸出。

Introduction


The Chapter Two is a new 'state of the art' audiophile two channel power amplifier
incorporating a unique combination of design features coupled with scrupulous attention
to technical detail.


 


The objective is to provide a product capable of great musicality and realism without
adding any noticeable 'character' of its own. Additionally to be able to drive the most
difficult speaker loads on the market today without compromising stability. By bringing
together engineers and designers with a lifetime's experience in audio and power systems
design we believe this objective has been more than achieved.


 


A top-flight amplifier should boast exemplary specifications. Indeed the Chapter Two
achieves these but not purely for the sake of 'specmanship'. Hundreds of listening tests
and auditions by recognised audio experts have gone into honing the Chapter Two. The
result - musicality with a first class technical specification.



Chapter Two Amplifier


The amplifier is based around the company's own ‘Nested Loop Technology’ and a lateral
complementary MOSFET output stage. These form a proven, robust and reliable
foundation for the power amplifier design. But, this on its own is not enough to produce
class-leading performance. Further extensive research has gone into refining this topology
to achieve the final result, the Chapter Two.


 


In order to achieve the low levels of distortion, negative feedback has been carefully
optimised. There is little doubt that negative feed back is a valuable tool. However, there is
a much-misguided debate over its use, abuse and effects. The Chapter Two manages to
combine high levels of negative feedback to achieve technical excellence, without
compromising slew rate or much sought after 'musicality'.


 


To achieve this, feedback is applied individually around two discrete gain 'blocks',
optimising distortion and noise performance in each one. The use of two gain blocks in
series allows a very linear, low noise, wide bandwidth amplifier without unnecessary
complication.


A list of performance enhancing features appears on page two, but to sum up, what makes
the Chapter Two special is the attention to a myriad of technical details, optimised in part
by through computer simulation of all aspects of the design but also many hours of
research and audition.

Chapter Two Power Amplifier Features


-DC servo control allows full performance to less than 1Hz, but crucially the phase of the
Chapter Two does not change more than 7° (5Hz-22.5kHz) compared with up to 45° in
many instances. If the critical phase information is lost, so is bass 'punch', detail and
'drive'.


The Chapter Two bass is extended, fast, controlled and above all, accurate. Whatever your
musical tastes, from classical music to 'garage' or 'rock' the Chapter Two will not fail to
impress.


 


The DC servo also guarantees minimal DC offset at the speaker terminals, typically less
than 3mV, under all normal operating conditions.


 


-The wide bandwidth of the amplifier is important in preserving the vital H.F. phase
information essential to stereo soundstaging and realism. The MOSFET output stage was
chosen specifically for its speed of response, further improved by a high-speed driver
stage.


 


Frequency compensation of the amplifier is achieved in such a way as to allow excellent
phase and gain margin into complex speaker loads without compromising high frequency
phase or power bandwidth.


-Balanced ground layout cancels the ground currents that can cause intermodulation
distortion and crosstalk in a conventional stereo design. This also reduces demands on the
power supply, which helps to achieve a more efficient solution.


 


-Unique 'split' output circuitry and 4 x WBT 0765 heavy duty output binding posts per
channel maximise the benefit of loudspeaker bi-wiring.


 


-User friendly back panel, switchable gain and balanced XLR or phono inputs.


-Unique universal input switched mode power supply with power factor correction (PFC)
technology. In addition to improving performance this advanced power supply is 85%
efficient thus helping to conserve world resources.

Chapter Two Power Supply


The Chapter Two uses an advanced, double regulated, switched mode power supply to
achieve very high performance coupled with relatively low weight and compact
dimensions.


 


The power supply incorporates active universal power factor correction (PFC), making it
compatible with future European mains harmonic distortion legislation and allowing
universal operation from any mains voltage between 85 and 265AC at 50-60Hz. Thus total
audio performance is guaranteed anywhere in the world.


 


In addition the amplifier will ride severe mains 'brown-outs' without audible effect
meaning the quality of the mains supply will not upset your listening enjoyment.


Unique circuitry coupled with expert RF filter design and layout allows the Chapter Two to
meet the most stringent tests for radio frequency emissions including the EN broadcast
specification.
