A member on AVForums.com called Goblin got the chance to ask Toshiba UK some questions about the upcoming European players.
Key points:
* The European players will use Faroudja (with DCDi) for the upscaling of standard def NTSC and PAL DVDs.
* It will be possible to make the European players region free (read the question below)
* Any players sold as region free will stay that way forever.
Region free for Sd-DVD? There probably won't be a handset hack for this, but don't be surprised if your dealer receives a mysterious envelope that definitely does not come from their Toshiba sales rep that just happens to have a disc to enable multi-region playback. Also, most certainly do not expect this to in any way show up on any internet sites as a downloadable ISO
