I am using an average DVD player, I tried coaxial and optical connect to my AV amp to play SACD...there was no sound coming out from the speaker. Normal digital output cannot play SACD.
If you want to use digital link then you need to consider iLink, Denon-link etc.

I'm going to buy a cd player, but don't know how to choose. I'm looking at Denon DCD-1500AE and Marantz SA7001. Which one is better if they have the same price? and I have a question about SACD for the 2 players above, do they have no digital output for SACD? they are only connect with red and white cable when playing SACD, then can't have muti-channel......?
But why DVD player can connect it with Coaxial when playing SACD, and it can play muti-channels?
