TX SR 705 – SR 875 and TX NR 905:
Within 3 seconds, press the Tone “ +“ button. Now the display showing the DSP 1 st firmware version,
press the “Return” button on the Receiver, then press Play on the CD Player. The Receiver’s display
will now say “S/PDIF Update…” for about 15 seconds then “Writing 1 st DSP…” for about 15 seconds,
than again S/DIF Update. Now you see “Writing 2 st DSP…” than again S/DIF Update before it
changes to “Writing 3 st DSP…” When the writing process has finished the display will say
“Complete!”, then “Clear”, then the Receiver will go to Standby mode. It is possible, that the unit will
not switch OFF automatically, in this case wait for another 10 minutes before switching OFF manually. |

why need to unplug 905 power cable to check FW? remember even with power cable plugged, just press some hidden buttons, then you can see FW version....  am I wrong? |

點解我搵唔到個DETAIL?係唔係燒佐 AUDIO CD ,接佐DVD用OPTICAL 1出
去PLAY 呀?
Main:
用 RS 232 線接駁 AV amp...不過要 check 部 amp 係 MainUpdater 1.01
805 ONKYO HK 可以幫你 update...705 就吾知有冇
點查個MAINUPDATER 係唔係1.01? 係用NOTEBOOK接埋RS-232打開個FILE

Hi,
Just got the main fw 1.08 for Onkyo 805... after getting out my good old PC which still has COM port output, I try to upgrade my unit. Unfortunately, my unit mainupdatemode is of version 1.00 and not the required 1.01 and so after I upgrade it, the whole unit stoned and cannot even power up.... I need to re-load back the 1.03 firmware to make it operational again. Sigh..... from avsforum, people like me which having an old unit (mainupdatemode 1.00) are still figuering out how to do the upgrade....
so if you want to upgrade the fw, be sure to check your mainupdatemode version first (by 1. unplug the unit 2. press and HOLD the ENTER button 3. plug back the unit while still holding the ENTER button 4. something like mainupdatemode 1.xx / xxxx will show on the front panel). The mainupdatemode has to be 1.01 for the fw upgrade to work.

Hi... 805 firmware is out?? oh.. where can I get it? I really don't want to take the heavy 805 and unplug everything to get it to service centre.. but the DTS-HD MA (Boom!!) sound bug is really annoying.

Onkyo has specially stated 1.06 and 1.07 will not be released to users or service centers for upgrades. They also will not release any information on what the updates do, beyond commenting that it does not alleviate the problems that have users so unhappy (audio delay, HDMI issues, etc.).
Onkyo also commented on the "firmware fiasco" that happens over here on AVS by users passing around the upgrade between each other. They do not want a repeat and thus will not let lose any more upgrades in the wild. This also explains why Joerod fell off the planet and is no longer commenting on firmware updates.
