Maybe 1.07 because 875 firmware always = 905 firmware - 0.01
So, 875 maybe 1.08 - 0.01 = 1.07  |

Hi Yuppi,
Do u know What's the latest version of the Main F/W for 875 so far? I guess it should be 1.07 since my current one is 1.06. If it is the case, I will wait for the next one if available! |

Congratulations to you Bird! Is there any difference of the sound qualiy after the Main F/W updated to 1.08 and the latest DSP version?
My 875 DSP updated as follow:
SR8051/08214A - OK
SR8052/07518A - OK
SR8053/07820B - OK
Will try to update 1.08 when I get a RS232 cable later.
Also thanks Yuppi to share his experience and the effort of this update process. |

1.08 成功 !!!
但係 DSP 有DD 問題 , 燒隻碟出來 1.04 分鐘
DSP 1 & 2 都 OK !!!
PLAY 到 1.03分鐘 先來 Writing 3 st DSP .....
但係一陣就停左再出 S/PDIF Update…
無出 display will say “Complete!”, then “Clear”
等好耐都冇反應 ............ 之後熄機 CHECK DSP 係升左的
唔知點算好 ???  |

To Bird:
I use 'Nero Express' to burn the wav file to a CD-R and put it into a DVD player to run the update, it looks everything is fine after I followed the given instruction but still waiting to get the final stage to "Complete" the process, it being stuck on the display to showing S/PDIF Update... that seems have a problem. It takes over 3 hrs ago!
My 875 is using 1.06 version, really wanted to be updated to the latest one with this simple method. I will try this again anyway.
Any further info to be shared for the Main firmware update with the RS232 cable?

Anyone know How Long it takes for the whole upgrade processing when you press the 'Play' button on the CD/DVD Player? The display on my 875 is still showing "S/PDIF Update…" for over half hour ago. I am still waiting to the see the "Complete", then "Clear", hope it is a normal time and successful. |

Onkyo has specially stated 1.06 and 1.07 will not be released to users or service centers for upgrades. They also will not release any information on what the updates do, beyond commenting that it does not alleviate the problems that have users so unhappy (audio delay, HDMI issues, etc.).
Onkyo also commented on the "firmware fiasco" that happens over here on AVS by users passing around the upgrade between each other. They do not want a repeat and thus will not let lose any more upgrades in the wild. This also explains why Joerod fell off the planet and is no longer commenting on firmware updates.
