Yuppi Hing,
What mean of POP POP sound? are that output from the Speaker? While for my 875 even using in PS3, BD30 & A35 with sound level to -24 (quite large volume to me), still haven't heard any POP POP sound when any sound/scene effect switching (e.g. Main Menu Steror to Film DD+...), (so just guessed before with the sound of the 'Relay' after the upgrade could be minimize tim...).

 could come back again... For the 875 upgrade, after using another Desktop, it is ok now... just use internal COM port and 9600/N/8/N for the connection... it shown a sec. of 'Search F/W' then go to update process.... 
Yes, the color tune is much more vivid after tuning. But would like to know if 875 in switching the sound effect BY THE FILM ITSELF (e.g. DD+ to HD-Master) 's 'Dick Dick' sound from the 875 (not from the Speaker) is normal or not?  Thks. |

With my limited PC hardware knowledge, even though one will not usually find any rear serial/com port on desktops these days, in most cases, there are still jumpers available on the desktop motherboard for com port connection. You may try first to check the manual that comes with the motherboard for them. Alternatively you may also open up the PC chassis to look for them. They are usually designated as COM1 and COM2. If you do find them, you may go to Golden Computer Mall in SSP or 298 in Wanchai and buy the proper connector. I think the cost should not be more than HK$15 - 20 each. |

Yes.. it seems complaint letter to Onkyo JP is required... But just heard some of the friend said on last year, what Onkyo HK is resizing, may be even not last... So..... Just complaint Onkyo JP to get more support or invest more in HK la.... Hope that it is not true....  |

i also use the USB to RS232 cable and use com3 too. It works fine for me. |

Good2007, very well to hear you got success... but I still could not even use the Desktop to update it... (my Desktop haven't the COM port too)... may be my USB->RS232 Cable not worked well... Still just got 'Seach F/W' in 875 Panel....  |

Thanks Yuppi for the FW file and thanks Ken Chiu solved my puzzle. I am very happy indeed and updated my FW to 1.05 last night. |

Dear Sir,
I have bought AV Amp 875 around 5 months. My 875 firmware version is 1.01. And I know that the newest firmware version is 1.07.
However, when I called Onkyo HK for help, how to upgrade my 875's firmware to 1.07. Their answer was, they don't support this kind of service.
This makes me really upset.I was a Sony AV Amp user, now changed to Onkyo, because I think 875 is a great product. However, I cannot imagine Onkyo HK provides so POOR service, this is really NOT Acceptable!!! I hope Onkyo Japan can help to solve this problem and help the Onkyo users in HK. Otherwise, I believe most of us, will not buy Onkyo's products in the future anymore, but change to other brands.
Hope you can help and give me a feedback on this.

Dear Sir,
I have bought 2 nos. TX-SR875 and now using TX-NR905.
However, when I called Onkyo HK for help, how to upgrade my 875's firmware to 1.05. Their answer was that they don't support this kind of service, the only way for update firmware for ONKYO product is buy another one so that I have bought my second nos. TX-SR875.
By now, I am using TX-NR905 ver.1.07 and still find that it has a problem - Lack of control on 4:3 sources to fixed output (i.e., stretch-o-vision). I have ask ONKYO Hong Kong about this problem since all other bands like Pioneer, Denon's AV receiver do not have this problem that can output 4:3 1080p video my option setting. And the answer is again....they don't support this kind of service and they don't provide any firmware upgrade for 905.
This makes me really upset.If Hong Kong market is not important for ONKYO that ONKYO has no Customer Services provides for Hong Kong user, I think most of us will not buy Onkyo's products in the future anymore and change to other brands. Also, TX-NR905 is my last ONKYO product.
Finally, I think 905 is a great product and I hope Onkyo Japan can help to solve this problem and help the Hong Kong Onkyo users.

Onkyo has specially stated 1.06 and 1.07 will not be released to users or service centers for upgrades. They also will not release any information on what the updates do, beyond commenting that it does not alleviate the problems that have users so unhappy (audio delay, HDMI issues, etc.).
Onkyo also commented on the "firmware fiasco" that happens over here on AVS by users passing around the upgrade between each other. They do not want a repeat and thus will not let lose any more upgrades in the wild. This also explains why Joerod fell off the planet and is no longer commenting on firmware updates.
