借問會唔會有新 firmware 可 support format 1TB o既 harddrive？
我用過 Parted Magic ，試左 2 日都 format 唔到我部 Western Digital external 1T。
我做法係先 delete 成個 partition 變成 empty，然後再 create Primary o既 Ext2。
全程只有呢兩個動作，但每當 delete 完 partition 後做 ext2 formatting 時，
大約 5 分鐘，個 program (GParted) 自己 quit。
再試其他方法，例如先 format Fat32，再 format ext2，都係自己 quite。
然後再試，MTV3000 format，佢會 format 成為兩個 ext2 (640Gb + 300GB 左右)，
我再比 GParted 去 delete 300GB，然後再 resize 640Gb 成為 1T，但成個過程佢話要十幾二十粒鐘。 
其實我做錯左乜？

Dear LiOn,
小弟用緊部 MTV3000(firmware: v2.06),經常地邊錄影就邊睇Playback,不過有個問題係有時睇playback的時候會忽然會hold左係度(由其按fastforward 或 跳前30秒之類很易出事),
於是按"Live"出番去啦.雖不知連錄影都停埋,而且有時會顯示"USB裝置已移除"然後再顯示番"發現可用USB裝置"之後又好似正常番.
試過兩款HDD(WD 500G Passport , Stardom Ext HDD Case + WD 640G 32M , Format 同樣是用EXT2)都有試過呢個情況.
有冇其他C.Hing有類似問題. 是BUG嗎?

Thanks for your continous support on this forum.
I have been using MTV3000 since January 2008. I am using both the Sony CRT TV and JVC HD-1 Projector. Component inputs was connected to Sony CRT TV and HDMI to HD-1. Each firmware has given different response from my CRT TV. In firmware 2.03b. My TV have stable display when set to 1080P 50 as well as my projector. After the most recent 2.06 firmware upgrade and some previous firmwares. My CRT TV can only have correct display to 576i 50. Not the other format. My projector will have incorrect display scale (4:3) even I have set it to 16:9. May I know why the unstable display on different firmwares ?

我家中有 MTV5000 及 MTV3000 x2部, 你的個案, 我都有呢個經驗.
(我家中2間房都是用MTV3000, 廳中的原裝天線插位用 MTV5000)
當我用MTV5000 看85號台, 間中都會爆格或跳一兩秒無聲, 不過好快就自動回復正常,
但是同一時間, 房間中2台MTV3000都是正常收看, 沒有爆格亦沒有跳聲.
當看過你的個案, 我又去看我的接收值, MTV5000的接收95%-100%(100%畫質)
MV3000 都是大約 75% - 85%(100%畫質)
所以我相信爆格同接收無關, 而software的可能性, 直係要 LiOn大人幫助看看了. |

Hi Li On,
I bought a MTV5000 2 months ago, I notice that there are "爆格" or no/weak signal around 1 to 2 times per hour on channel 35 (Jade HD). I exchange a new one from fortress after 7 days of use.
Then, I also experience the same problem "爆格" or no/weak signal".
The symptom are as follow:
1) When viewing Jade HD (85), "爆格" or no/weak signal around 1 to 2 times per hour.
2) Whenever there is "爆格", it last for 30s to 60s, and most of time return normal, but sometimes, STB reboot.
3) During the "爆格", if I disconnect the antenna or change channel (e.g. from channel 35 to 37), then the screen return to normal immediately.
4) If I change the channel every 15 mins, the problem seems will not happen.
5) Whenever there is "爆格" on my TV, there is no problem on my neighbour's TV (I can watch their TV over the windows)
6) Recorded video also have problem. Therefore, If I record 1 hour of HDTV, there is always 1 or 2 mins error.
7) There is no problem on SD channel.
I did upgrade the STB to latest firmware (1.10), but problem is still same as before.
I called the hotline, the engineer told me that it is most likely the signal problem.
OK. I told the building management to check the signal.
First, they change to another port of the signal spilter outside my flat. But, problem is still there.
Second time, they brought a meter (with signal graph shown) to check at my home. The reading is ~65dB, and C/N or C/M = 40+, and a "good" is shown. They confirm the signal is good and there is no other complain from other users on the same building.
Today, I bought a HDTV card installed to my PC, connect to the same antenna, and watch Jade HD from PC and STB at the same time. When there is "爆格" on TV, there is no problem on my PC. So, It seems the problem on the STB.
I found the picture quality is good on MTV (better than my HDTV card on PC), but it is not stable.
Hope the MTV engineer are focusing on the stability of the STB.

hi gilman, please reconnect the USB cable and make sure the cable connection is solid. You may also try another short USB cable, or connect the USB on the other USB port of the MTV3000. If you still have problem, please bring the MagicTV and the USB harddrive to us to check whether it's the MTV3000 or the USB harddrive problem.

Hi Li On,我尋日試過即錄即番無問題...睇番之前lag果d節目都無事..試左幾次都無事~
之後熄左機隔左幾個鐘再試..起初都無事...但後來prompt左個msg出黎話移除左我個hdd..
跟住又prompt多個msg出黎話裝左個usb 1.0既裝置會影響錄影...跟住試所有錄左張節目都lag啦...
可能之前我一開MTV就開埋個HDD先開LCD...所以無留意到部MTV應左我個外置HDD做usb 1.0..
咁幾實係部MTV既USB有問題定係我個外置盒有問題?定係2個device唔夾呢? Thx~ |

hi gilman, is the problem occur on both SD/HD channel, or only on HD channel? Please try viewing the MagicTV while recording to make sure there is no reception signal problem.
Please power Off/On both the MagicTV and the USB harddrive and try again. Please try another USB cable, or another USB harddrive. If you still have problem, please call our hotline 26556768 to arrange to bring the MagicTV and the USB harddrive to our office to check.

咁多位師兄...小弟剛剛買了個western digitial 640gb HDD 用usb2.0既hdd盒駁落部MTV3000(用緊2.06 firmware)...rec節目無問題..睇到rec左幾多分鐘...但play果陣就好lag...有聲有畫面...但就lag到睇唔到咁制...想請教師兄們係發生咩問題?Thz! |

裸族 esata + usb 冇 auto power on/off功能的，暫時只有Century裸族cooling fan(model:CROSU2F)有此功能，而且加了風扇後，大大降低HDD的温度，售價$390。 |

CRNS35EU2 has hardware raid and also have a mode to combine 2 HDDs into 1 big one. If this mode can be recognized by MTV3k, we can have 2TB storage la. I also don't know the price yet. Will check it out when I visit SSP next week. |

I do not have the model you mentioned but I using CRIS35EU2 ( single ).
The hard disk case door look like the same. The curved shaped metal plate inside that door 唔夠力頂實隻 hard disk and the hard dick inside are not all the times being detected because the curved shaped metal plate 變形 as times goes by. I cut a piece of plastic eraser ( 擦子膠 ) and insert it inside the curve and prevent that curve shaped change.
In connect with MTV 3000 the hard disk will auto spin up after a certain period of 閒置 but it do not auto power on off with MTV 3000 that means even MTV 3000 standby by after recording and it do not power off automatically.
By the way please tell me how much the CRNS35EU2 cost if you know.

I have made an improvement to the robustness of consecutive recordings at different frequencies, and 0-byte recording failures due to no signal will be clearly indicated. I hope these improvements in the next firmware will help. |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
