MTV3000 SPECIAL TEST firmware. This TEST firmware has the EXACT SAME function and feature of the current 2.01 Beta firmware. There is NO new function or feature in this special test firmware.

A few users complain that when using optical/coxial digital audio in Bitstream ON mode, there is random "stutter" or Ánµ"²¿". The digital audio works OK in Bitstream Off mode. And the reception quality is good and not related to the audio problem.

If you have the above audio problem, please try this special test firmware, and check if it solve or improve the audio "stutter" issue.

If you use Bitstream On, and do NOT have the audio problem, and you really want to help, you may also try this special firmware to see if there is any bad effect on the Bitstream audio!

You can change back to the 2.01 Beta firmware if you have problem with this special test firmware. Thanks in advance.

Dear Li On

Please add functions:

1) Export recorded files from USB Harddisk to USB memory stick
2) Playback files from USB memory stick

I will therefore recommend all my family members and friends to buy MTV3000, and exchange videos with them.

Li On hing,

I am happy to see that you will add 'Tue to Sat' in recording function. How about 'Mon to Sat' or my previous proposal of 'Everyday' but the EPG will recognise the programme name to ensure no missing and no extra.

In addition, whether the EPG can also display the programme name in the language according to user setting / option.

Anyway, good work

ryanenen hing, indeed this is a problem! Now I understand why the Japanese system call their mid-night program time at 25hr, 26hr etc! We will think of something, maybe a simply Tue to Sat recording...

MTV cannot change the date as it synchronizes with the broadcast signal.
I hope there will be an enhancement rather than cheating the machine.

">>>I encountered problem with scheduled recording of the mid-night programs.

For example, I want to record ¦V¥@¬É¥Xµo at 3:15am (Mon to Fri)

Actually, the programme commences at Tue 3:15am and ends at Sat 3:15am. So, the 5th day programme can not be recorded. <<<

I suggest you a TRICK to cheat the STB:

1) Re set your MTV3000 date to 1 day backward. i.e. Set the date as 21-7-2008 as at today date.

2) Set your recording schedule as usual( Rec from Monday to Friday).

3) When you want to set other recording programs, you must remember the date is 1 day backward.

I play this trick to my dvd recorder and it works fine.... "

hi Kenny Chim, try to delete Recorded Program using the "X" button and watch the front panel HDD usage meter. Each level means 10% HDD space. For a WD500, please try to delete more than 50G program and the front panel HDD meter should drop. You can try delete ALL the Recorded Program to test the front panel HDD meter, and the Setup->Recording->Remaining Disk Space info. The HDD available size should increase when you delete more program.

After the test, you can bring back (undelete) all the program from Trash.

In some case, if the USB harddrive is in FAT32 format, and the USB harddrive has been connected on PC, and unpluged without "safely remove" in Windows, then sometimes the FAT32 filesystem will be curropted and abnormal behavour will happen. For the most stable recording/playback performance, please format the USB harddrive in the MTV3000.

regards,

Li On

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/

Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend! This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.

With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.

We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.

Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.

Please post any question about the upcoming MTV3000 recording firmware here! Thanks in advance.

regards,

Li On
