>>>I encountered problem with scheduled recording of the mid-night programs.

For example, I want to record 向世界出發 at 3:15am (Mon to Fri)

Actually, the programme commences at Tue 3:15am and ends at Sat 3:15am. So, the 5th day programme can not be recorded. <<<

I suggest you a TRICK to cheat the STB:

1) Re set your MTV3000 date to 1 day backward. i.e. Set the date as 21-7-2008 as at today date.

2) Set your recording schedule as usual( Rec from Monday to Friday).

3) When you want to set other recording programs, you must remember the date is 1 day backward.

I play this trick to my dvd recorder and it works fine....

smallkeung hing, you see un-used pixel because in 1080p you're running 1:1 mapping from the MTV3000 to your 1080p TV. On your Sony, select Wide Mode: FULL, in Settings->Screen->Display Area, select Full Pixel. On the MTV3000, goto Setup->Video->Test Pattern, you will see the FULL 1920x1080 pattern with all the 4 sides edge lines. This is 1080p 1:1 mapping. The MTV3000 outputs the full 1920x1080 pixels and the Sony will display all the 1920x1080 pixels.

BUT, there is NO guarantee that the TV station will always use the FULL 1920x1080 pixels in ALL programs. If you do not like there is some un-used image area in some program, please complain to the TV station.

Or, you can enable OVERSCAN on the TV. On the Sony, under Settings->Screen->Display Area, select Normal (2% overscan), -1 (3% overscan), -2 (4% overscan) to slightly ZOOM the image and cut off any un-used image area in image edge.

If you want 1920x1080 in 1:1 mapping, sometimes there will be some un-used pixels around image edge, unless you can talk to TV station and force the broadcast to ALWAYS USE ALL THE 1920x1080 PIXELS IN ALL PROGRAMS!

It's sad that MOST people still can not understand these concept...

regards,

Li On

Hi Li on,

I have found another issue for 1080P/50Hz output. It doesn't show in full pixel. The screen shows 4 pixels lower. But the 1080I/50Hz doesn't have any problem. Please help to report and fix.

I have attached 2 photos for your reference.

*My TV is Sony x300a

Thank you very much!

Thanks Li On hing,

The main purpose of setting 'Monday to Saturday' and 'Tuesday to Saturday' is to track the same TV programme. Is it possible that the EPG recording function can recognise the programme name such that whenever the TV programme is mis-match to the EPG setting, the MTV will not record. In this way, one 'Everyday' function is sufficient to meet various situations.

On the programme name at the recorded video, I suggest the MTV captured the language of user setting as at the time he chose the programme at EPG.

Wing X2 hing,

People may have different preference. If possible and not much effort, a global and optional setting at the system for the behaviour of all warning messages should be the best way. But it depends on the resource availability at the firmware and the priority of improvement functions.

Your idea of different user settings is supported.

Sorry, my mistake! So you want 'Monday to Saturday' and 'Tuesday to Saturday', but there is no such settings. There are 3 types repeat recording, Mon-Fri, every week and every day. For Mon-Sat, first add a Mon-Fri, then add a every week on Sat. For Tue-Sat, add every week from Tue to Sat.

For the Component and HDMI 1080p output, it will be fixed in the next firmware.

Li On

Thanks Li On hing,

I have to use firmware 2.0 because I need the output signal from Component / AV. For firmware 2.01, I was given understand that both Component / AV out are turned off at 1080p setting. Am I right ? Is it possible to keep the Component / AV out at 1080p at future firmware version.

I still cannot find 'Monday to Saturday' and 'Tuesday to Saturday' at EPG selection. Is it the difference for firmware 2.0 and 2.01 ?

My family and many my friends are using MTV3000. At some occasion, we wish to share our video. Our current method is to output the video from AV port to DVD recorder but the quality is downgraded. Except that we exchange the Harddisk, how can I copy / export the TV recorded programme to their MTV ?

mkhung hing, in EPG, highlight a program, press "OK", select "Repeat Recording", then select repeat recording mode.

For the 1080p 50hz motion/panning issue, please update to firmware 2.01 beta.

How many time do I need to repeat these message?

regards,

Li On

Superdog Hing,

On EPG Programming, I cannot find 'Monday to Saturday' and 'Tuesday to Saturday' on the selection list. Can you show me the steps by say, screen dump ?

Any brother facing the 1080p with the picture displayed like jumping frames when fast motion like panning or zooming ? I have tested to play the same video under 1080i setting at MTV3000, the TV displayed very smooth.

Higo hing,

For the Maxtor OneTouch series, please connect it to your PC and install the Maxtor software that comes with the OneTouch. Run the Maxtor Manager software. Click on the Settings button. Click Adjust Power Setting Button. Click on the time field to select an inactivity period. Set it to Never. Click Apply.

Power cycle the Magic TV using the power switch at the back. Then connect the Maxtor OneTouch back to Magic TV.

Hi Brothers

I recongised there is a difference in the "standy by" model between Buffalo DS and iTank (single drive).

For the Buffalo DS, when the MTV3000 is in standby mode, there is no heat generation at all, or at least, I can't feel it.

But the iTank is a little bit warm when in standy by mode, although I cannot feel the spinning of the HDD.

So I stay with the DS and use the iTank for other purpose, although iTank is actually more flexible, you can replace the HDD without taking off the drive.

Li On Hing never answer my question whether they will implement a standby mode or switch off mode with less power consumption! Li On hing, please.

Dear LiOn,

Any explanation for the One-second recording sympton?

"I am currently using MTV3000 with a 500G Maxtor OneTouch 4. I format the disk to EXT2 format. Most of the recording functions work fine. However, once in a while, when I set the EPG program for the recording, it only records for 1 second. I mean just 1 second. Do you have any reason for this behavour?

I note that the Maxtor supports auto spin-down program."

kambo008 hing, in your other posts you are using a 2.5" USB harddrive which draw power from the MTV3000. Those harddrive may NOT work correctly with the MTV3000. If the MTV3000 can not supply enough USB power to drive the 2.5" harddrive, then some random abnormal behavior may happen, such as no sound or no picture. Please use a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to have the most stable recording/playback performance.

regards,

Li On

Hi 米高 wkw,

I think most PC related test report for external cases won't care about auto spin on/off as you will also power off the external case when you power off the PC manually.

For my case, when both MTV3k and ICY Dock MB559US-1S are in standby, when it's time for recording, MTV3k will wake up first and then I can hear ICY Dock to spin-on. Then after recording, MTV3k will return back to standby mode and ICY Dock will immediately spin-off. They are not shut down, both of them just return back to standby.

Hi Li On,

Is that possible to add a "lip sync" feature to the optical out ?

Because I have such problem, the optical out sound always faster than the screen or not in sync.

Thank you!

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/

Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend! This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.

With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.

We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.

Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.

Please post any question about the upcoming MTV3000 recording firmware here! Thanks in advance.

regards,

Li On
