請教各位.
早2日買左MTV5000,
1. 想將錄低d節目轉造DVD比老人家 (不同住) 睇, 須要甚麼軟件?
2. set 1080P輸出(睇港姐)時, 電視畫面會”窒”, 1080i 就無問題. 我用 Hisense Full HD TV + $200 一條 hdmi 線.
3. 錄影或重播時成日有個”正在錄影/重播”訊息係左上角, 點樣整走佢?

個WD Passport 2.5" 320G 係無問題,
插落電腦係即插即用,
我尋日由得個Passport插住係MTV3000唔理佢, 唔知過左幾耐,
睇返個MTV3000 display竟然出左個HDD 容量既顯示, 再試錄影,
又完全無問題, 我諗可能係MTV3000係recognize external harddisk時有少少問題認耐左, 令到部機無反應
因為我試過另一個3.5" External HD係即插即認到, 所以無諗過要等咁耐先認到 |

Dear MagicTV,
I am currently using MTV3000 with a 500G Maxtor OneTouch 4. I format the disk to EXT2 format. Most of the recording functions work fine. However, once in a while, when I set the EPG program for the recording, it only records for 1 second. I mean just 1 second. Do you have any reason for this behavour?
I note that the Maxtor supports auto spin-down program. |

I am using the MTV3000 and find the following problem at recording function :
1. I want to record a programme of Monday to Friday but the system only allow me to choose either once, every day or once a week. Hence, I have to set the programme using the EPG with everyday. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, I find the MTV recorded another programme of different name to my EPG setting and such TV programme is not on my wish.
2. I find your English menu is easier to understand and therefore I choose English. When setting EPG programme, I have choosen the Chinese name for chinese channel. After recording, the programme name changed back to english.
Suggestion :
1. The EPG programming should add 'Monday to Friday', 'Monday to Saturday' and 'Tuesday to Saturday (for some TV programme at midnight after Monday to Friday)'.
2. The MTV should not record the programme with different name to user setting.
3. The recorded programme should display the name in same languague according to the user setup at EPG programming. i.e. the MTV should display Chinese programme name disregarding the menu setup is English.
I am using a 3.5-inch HDD and it can match perfectly your MTV on turn off and wake up. You have done a good job and I have much confidence to your final firmware version.
I have set my MTV to 1080p and the pictures look better than 1080i. However, when the video is panning fast or zooming, the pictures display not so smooth in comparing to 1080i. The pictures of 1080p display like jumping frames. I don't know whether it is the problem of my TV.

My Seagate 2.5" FreeAgent Go will go to sleep when the drive is idle for a period of time. (the light will dim out after a period of time when not in use, about 5-10 mins.) |

Magic TV already send spin-down command to USB drives.
It won't help most of the 3.5" DIY USB Enclosures. The fact is, most of them do not support the spin-down command, they ignore it. Some of the known rare few that are reported to work with Magic TV include Century CROSU2, ICY Dock MB559US-1S and a certain iTank, according to previous feedback. |

I suggest to add an option in MTV3000 to send "spin-down" command to the USB drive when the dirve is idle for a period of time and "spin-up" command when the user press the Record/Playback button.
It's good to users using DIY external HD enclosures lacking the "auto spin-down" capability found in Buffalo and WD ones after some period of drive inactivity. |

I have found a problem with the Magic TV STB that when recording and watching a EPG TV Program at the same time, there is only piciture seen on screen without any sound heard from TV. After recording, however, the picture together with sound output is fine on TV during the playback of the recorded EPG TV program. This is very much contrary to the fact that, for instant recording, the picture and sound output can be seen and heard from TV when recording instantly and watching a TV Program at the same time. I am much obliged if you would kindly look into this matter. Thank you. |

Dear Pixel Magic staff,
I'm a new MTV3k user. I'm very satisfied with the picture quality on my CRT tv, especially when using 1080i-60 which could solve the flickering screen problem when watching at 1080i-50.
I just have one problem : The screen is too bright when comparing with other sources so that I have to adjust my tv's picture setting every time, could you add one more image mode in the next release, "Mild" in addition to existing "Natural" and "Dynamic".

Try the following:
1) Power off both MTV3000 and harddisk
2) Power on the harddisk first, let it stay at standby mode
3) Power on the MTV3000, it will reboot and recongize the harddisk if the harddisk is not malfunction |

Agree more flexible....but I think internal harddisk design of mtv5000 should be more stable. Both 3k & 5k have their advantages. |

We always recommend using a 3.5" drive with Magic TV.
In your case, please do a 2-step format as follows:
1. Format your HDD in PC first as NTFS, such that Magic TV will not recognize it, and you can verify that the HDD is working normally
2. Plug the HDD into Magic TV, hopefully the HDD does not hang the Magic TV, then use Magic TV to format it again |

Maybe I need to explain more.
What I going to say is when 500G is not enough to store all your favouite HD video, you can take it out from ext case and plug in a new HD. IF you want to review your favourite HD programme, you can simply plug in the HD which stored the video and playback by 3000. As the cost of HD storage is $1/GB, I think it's justified to use HD as storage instead of BD-R in next 2 years.

It is just M$ Windows lacks EXT2/3.
or you may say the world lacks a Open Standard, and patent free, of file systems on removable hard disk, except FAT32
M$ NTFS is closed, proprietary format. No one have the spec. So STB using Linux as operating system can't use NTFS properly.
Linux EXT3 is open, just M$ doesn't implement it. |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
