So you bought MTV3000, what is wrong with MTV5000 then?
What do you do with the MTV3000 external HD? You cannot do anything in a PC unless you transfer the files into PC's HD and it still takes that amount of time, not a few minutes (asuming your MTV HD is ext2/3 format). Have you tried that? |

我買左部,插入MTV3000時部MTV3000係無反應, 按遙控時亦無反應, 但係電視正常播放, 如果將個WD HardDisk拔除, 咁先前係遙控按既鍵就會即時做返晒
我已經用左USB 1開2插, 不過都係用唔到個WD Passport,
會唔會係唔夠電? 有無辦法解決?
如果無就慘, 個WD Passport開左包裝應該無得退換 |

Thank you.
However, I did not place the MTV3000 in shelf and no any stuff covered on top of it.
Anyway, if I use HDMI output, no problem for several days. Hence, I think the problem is not HEAT.
Hence, I use a cheap 2in 1out HDMI selector to solve the problem. Moreover, the HDMI output is a little bit better than component output
If the problem happens also in HDMI, I will contact your for warranty service. |

Yeah, same here, The program guide appears after almost 1 sec when pressing the button. Other than this guide menu, it responses quick. |

but the remote control seems a little delay（遲鈍）,
esp. i press the "guide" key,
i knew some Ching said their remotes even out of control,
any report you got about this?

Can you describe what you find when you connect it with MTV3000
1. Both in standby mode
2. Can MTV3000 wake up ICY Dock HDD and record program?
3. After recording, both shut down?

My ICY Dock model is MB559US-1S (http://www.pczone.com.tw/vbb3/thread/14/130257/). Bought it at SSP's Capital last year for backup of my PC data purpose.
There is a black one which should be more suitable to complement with the MTV3k. May be I'll gonna find it when I go to Taipei next time  |

We always recommend EXT2 (or EXT3) over FAT32. Other than the file size limit, EXT2/3 is more stable for Magic TV recording for now, while we continue to improve FAT32 support.
Actually there is a timeout for menus, but it is not short, otherwise it will affect ordinary operations for many users.
Magic TV will cut power to some hardware when stand by, but not all hardware, otherwise automatic wakeup for scheduled recording and the clock would not be possible. Please place Magic TV in a place where there is good ventilation, and nothing else on top of Magic TV. |

我既意思係希望未錄前可以 preset 左提前及延遲時間, 選擇預錄時會自動加上, 不須要每次都重覆做提前及延遲設定.(例: 設定 10 個預錄, 要做 10 次提前及 10 次延遲的設定, 希望preset 左提前及延遲時間後, 10 個預錄自動加上該提前及延遲時間).

MTV3000 (2.01b) + Buffalo Drive station 500G(FAT32) works flawlessly. Well done PMS !  . Apart from the 4G file size limit for FAT32, are there any difference if the HDD is formatted by MTV3000 in Ext 3 format? Now the recording and playback are very smooth.
Is it possible to have the menu turned off automatically after 5 sec.?
It is quite hot even it is in standby mode for few hours. Can it really power off in standby mode? I don't mind it needs to re-boot everytime. |

另 新 firmware中, 可否 預設提早錄影及完成時間 ( 我指是'所有' 預設錄影 ) 不須每一個預錄去設定, 因電視台的翻放時常有誤差.
希望早日有 新 firmware  |

You will not get much faster copy/back up to external harddisk with any device or any other STB.
Depending on the speed/compatibility of the external USB harddisk, 10-20 min transfer time is normal for 6G file.
If that is the reason you do not consider this device, I am afraid you are not going to buy any other deivce either.. |

Dear PM,
I'm a user of mtv5000. I found that it require more than 20 mins to copy/backup for just 1 hour hd tv program (~6G) to external USB harddisk. Is it possible to improve the backup time in future firmware and there is nothing I can do during copy/backup.....can't view live or recorded tv program.

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend! This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
