How to play the HD ts file on PC? The KMPlayer only play the sound.
Is it I miss any decode?
Remark: SD is fine with KMPlayer. |

My one was bought at Oct 2006, it costs $450.
The adv is using HD drawer, we can swap the HD.
The disadv is no fan but the case is made of aluminum alloy. |

1. 禽日返工前用 Western Digital 個 diagnosis tool run 個 Extended Test，個 1TB MyBook essential 到放工食完飯都未行完，結果行左超過15個鐘至完，test result O.K.
2. 之前將 300GB 既 harddisk 用 Copy Partition 既方法將呢幾日錄既節覺目抄去 MyBook再 resize partition 去到 1TB。跟住發覺 MTV3000 正常咁 play 到 files，但就認唔哂 931GB (1TB)，顯示得 4XX GB，而家試下成個 Harddisk 再 format 一次睇下點。
重要等20分鐘至 format 完。 |

No antenna signal strength level indicator on the front panel, even no USB hardisk connect. The signal bar is for HD used info.
Suggest, the signal level bar should show up during live TV and for HD usage is only showing up in recording functional activity.

如果 500g 唔夠用的話, 買多個較平的 640g 做 backup 就 ok 晒...  |

and EXT3 is more robust than EXT2 in case of power failure or unsafe remove of USB
I think PM should remind people to standby before unplug USB. Linux cache a lot in RAM before actually write on the disk physically. Windows is also like that, that's why there is "Safely remove USB"
However, EXT3 is a bit slower than EXT2, because the journalling feature (NTFS has this feature too) to fight against power failure or unsafe unplug of USB. |

Thanks very much for your advice. I have install the fs-driver and it works very well. One minor thing to note though. One should reboot the computer before this software is is "activated".
I am using TotalMedia to cut out the TV commercials and it works pretty well.
I am actually glad to see that there are so many "high hands" in AVBUZZ. More importantly, people here are polite and helpful.

You can use the swissknife to format the USB drive to FAT32.

OR you can edit (read/write) EXT2 file under window platform by using
Ext2IFS_1_11.exe ~~ http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html
BUT can you playback the recording file by MTV3000 after editing.
If yes, it is very good.
If not, it seems meaningful to me because:
1. I just want to enjoy the HDTV program in my plasma TV (not 15"LCD mon)
2. without using MTV3000, I can't manage/select the sound track & subtitle
So, I really hope that PM team can improve the future firmware that can edit the recorded program. No matter what, I very very appriciate PM's GREAT effort on this recording function that I dreamed before |

Install this software then u can read / write / fomat the EXT2's format harddisk. If u want to edit the recorded program , just copy the program from Ext2's format to computer and put it back with same file name. So no need to format the harddisk in FAT32 format which is unstable for using in MTV3K. |

Does anyone know how to re-format a EXT2 harddrive back to FAT32?
I understand that EXT2 is more stable for MTV3000 but a FAT32 harddrive can be edited by Windows based computer. I plan to cut the commercial for recorded TV program.

Remember the maximum file size for FAT32 is 2G. So If you have one hour HD recording it will be splitted to 3 or 4 files which is useless if you want to edit.
To format FAT32 in windows, find the simple program of FAT32FORMAT to do it. |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP. 
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
