我沒買MTV3000,但是好奇怪,有人無事,有人問題多多。如果是軟體問題應該每個用戶都會有問題啊！我睇應該是硬體和使用上問題。尤其是硬體問題。 |

我用Buffalo跟機線。
我預錄高清一定死，所以昨晚我在看12時的節目已開始錄，一直錄到3,4點都冇事，所以一定是software bug. |

記住一定要用 合格 的usb 2.0連接線 , 如果唔少心用了 , 用料極差 或 usb 1.x 的線雖然用到,但係可能出現好多問題. (eg 供電不足 , 速度慢) |

我都諗住今日去買MTV3000(支持香港製造)同Harddisk...但睇完大家既POST....關於錄影既問題....有D話好窒....有D非常smooth.....大家可唔可以講下錄影個時嗰procedure係點呢?

Is it too much trouble just to change the extension yourself? |

我用咗個陣年20GB 2.5" Harddisk + 平價usb 盒用來試, 我發現出現問題的 (不論 "即錄" 定 "預錄") 都係o係錄 HD 節目, 我試過好多次用唔同方法, 錄普通台時可以正常冇問題, 好似噚日預錄明珠930就完全正常, 但一錄HD台就問題大, 好似我即錄女排大賽就 lap到爆, 我覺得自己的問題在陣年20GB 2.5" Harddisk上, 可能read / write 的speed唔夠.

我用個好cheap嘅harddisk box + 3.5" 80G hitachi harddisk，即時錄影同預錄都冇問題，錄緊一個節目，同時playback另外一個節目都唔會窒，唯一問題係個harddisk box唔識自動poweroff。
mtv3000係有時有一些小問題，轉臺時試過會出現冇訊號嘅message（不經常出現），但再轉多次又冇事。另外，有時轉臺後會冇聲音，要再轉多次才有聲音。
但so far 對mtv3000 都好満意。 |

The recorded file is in .ts format, I put it in my PC and PS3 can play it directly via TVersity.

I have problem with Buffalo Drive Station 500GB too. EPG record TVB HD channel always not stable. Buy If I switch on the TV when recording, somtimes it is OK.
And last night, the TV no sound when being recording.
And the 1080p quality is very bad in this firmware.  |

我用舊式IDE USB盒+Hitachi 300GB HDD, 呢兩日已預錄了十幾個節目, 十分好彩一哋問題都無。Playback一哋都唔窒。
其實用其他牌子機頂盒的師兄之前都有好多關於USB盒的討論, 不同的USB盒性能差異確實係好大的.
牌子盒中, 聽講WD My Book系列不錯, 值得一試. |

I totally agree that PM should have a list of qualified harddrives for consumer once they release the offical firmware.
If they fail in delivering the solution in a proper way, it'll be another nightmare for their CS team. |

I don't had any problem as all ! I just plug one of my old 3.5 SATA it work !
Maybe we can gather a list of the tested HD, DIY HDD case etc...

i have tried 3 harddisk, one 2.5" and 2 3.5".
In understand different harddisk may have different results. But it's no meaning to release a firmware which have such serious problem, even in beta stage.
Wht i'm saying is that PM know the issue. PM surely have tried many many different hardisk in their internal testing. If so many user have such kind of experience, it's definitely not an excuse in blaming the HD, even the hardisk i owned is not state of the art...
We're talking about MTBF, let say, a recording machine have 10% of MTBF is totally worthless, right? And as from what i know from AVBuzz forum, the problem is unboubtly more serious than that...
Actually i'm very happy with MTV3000, at $2680, even w/o recording function. It works perfectly for me.
Wht i'm trying to say is that if the hardware actually can't do the recording, PM shouldn't trying to push it to limit, just tell people it can't do it. Otherwise, people will get more angry when they have spent the $$$ on harddrives but not geting what they expected. |

after trying the recording function for about 30 times, it's really in beta stage and not stable. To make it clearbe, it's totally unstable.
In my experience, the video will always playback with jitter (窒)...
It will happen randomly. But most of my EPG recording will jitter. over 90% probability. manual recording is better, but will also jitter. Sometimes it seems to be working perfect, but trying a few more times, the video originally playing smooth will have problem again.
Turning off and on the STB again will help a little, but the problem still happen after trying a few times.
As a STB, it's no meaning to provide a function with such a high failure rate. As for my situation, it's over 90% unreliable. How will I trust this machine and record a programe that i really need to review!?
Really hope that PM will figure it out and provide a really working firmware, and not trying to force the hardware to do something it really can't do. Otherwise, investing the money to buy ext. harddisk is in vain... |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP. 
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
