My HDD issue happens only with Western Digital My Book Home Edition. I have no problem using Buffalo Drive Station too.
Those said OK are using WD My Book Home with firmware 2.03 too? |

That means the content recorded is totally okay ... are you using HDMI? Which video output setting you're using?
How long does the "freeze" lasts? Or just 窒格?
I'm only using Component output (720p50, 1080i50, 1080i60, etc), because I'm using HD CRT TV

Actually, video "freeze" while doing recording on TVB-HD. I am using the Buffalo 500GB HDD station. HDD formatted by MTV3000. Video "freeze" but audio is still okay. And even the video "freeze", the recording continue and playback is perfectly okay. This happens most with recording and few times without doing recording. Again, firmware is 2.03 beta and this problem also exists on 2.01 beta. |

Dear Jng,
I don't have any major problem for watching and recording, no matter using fw 2.01 or 2.03. I would only have unstable problem if I plugged in certain Fat-32 USB disks, and it is totally stable if formatted by MTV.
Pls let us know more about the "freeze" symptom, and your HDD. |

Bug report; MTV3000 cannot output dolby digital and 5.1 by HDMI
I use MTV3000 + Sony HT-SS2300
MTV3000 cannot output dolby digital 2.0 and 5.1 signal, even I set bitstream on...
It can only output 5.1 and 2.0 using optical out.
I am using 2.03 beta...is that some bug on current firmware?...or my MTV3000 HDMI has some problem? |

Is anyone kind enough to tell me which firmware version of MTV3000 is the most stable for recording. I want to stop seeing the video "freeze" while watching TVB-HD. I am using firmware 2.03 beta and I need to do recording.

How to output 5.1 from MTV3000? try all setting including bitstream on/off; audio channel 1 and 2. Still no 5.1 signal
I use HDMI connect:

Hi PMS,
The recording functoion of MTV3000 is quite sensitive to change. Last night when I was watching the Olympic during recording, I switched to TV standard channel a while and switched back to the HDMI input for MTV3000. The recording was interrupted and stopped. I noticed that this may due to the HDMI handshake between MTV3000 and LCDTV that causing the interruption. Anyway to improve this. |

USB 2.0 CONNECT的話, WD個開關制都係 有效 的.
只要長按一陣, 等燈閃完, 就會 Power Off 了,
只要再輕輕按一按, 就會叫返醒佢.
我諗廠方太多產品, 一時都唔記得了. 
"Essential Edition" 用家真係冇問題?
似乎 MTV3000 控制 WD "Home edition" 真的有問題,

Please add these features. The guys will love your products.
1) record TVB HD and J2 at the same time and view another channel in the same channel group.
2) editing function to cut out the unwanted footage.
3) ability to change the recorded file name.
4) ability to place markers automatically (i) at regular intervals and (ii) when TV commercials start and end (just like Pioneer DVD recorder, I guess the firmware detects the station logo disappears when TV commercials starts and place a marker automatically)
5) playback at 1.5x and still have sound (Pioneer function, important to save time as the pace and rhythm of some TV programmes are too slow) |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
