Thanks for your reminders. I believe what you said is right, science is always bringing us new innovation. Patience can save money, avoid having risks, but unfortunately, waste our time, or we could say, waste our life. Life is too short, why we do not catch it tightly for enjoyment?
I am so anxious to wait these two little fat boys, hopefully both of them could come to my home, if finally no one comes, maybe I will be desperate!

Unless in a desperate condition, buying an old lens is not always recommended..................
Rumours have been around that Canon is going to release a breakthru machine utilizing a much large than 35mm sized sensor to compete with the medium format cameras as well as the near full from flagships from Nikon and Sony and perhaps Leica R. All lenses are better to be redesigned to accommodate the sensor though older ones are still usable. So patience always pays.......

We assured that this is indeed a good lens. But, in consideration of its age and the lens design (for film photo), I suggest not to take it at the moment. If you really anxious for it, I would prefer to ask if Canon should support further service.
A serviceman at Heung Bun Building told me not to get the 28-80 L, no matter how good the condition is because it is not easy to get the parts for service.
I would prefer to get a 300/2.8 L instead. |

I found an used EF 200mm/f1.8 yesterday, and tried by using 5d. Due to in room, lights was no good, and without tripot, so, I raised ISO to 1600, shot by hand held. And then, transfer from RAW to Jpeg, resize without any other treatment. imagings looks like sharp even the apture was set at 1.8.
Several concerns:
- This lens was manufactuered in 1991, quite old, appearance & glasses.
- I do not know how to check an used gear.
- Will Canon launch a EF 200mm / f1.8 IS this or next year?
Mark, Birds and Sunny, could you advice if this lens is worth to invest? Thanks. |
