Need not to further introduce, one of the recent hot topic
is the destruction of the Create MuVo² 4GB MP3 player. I recently undertaken
such project and obtained a 4GB microdrive for my Nikon Coolpix 8700. At the
same time, obtained also a MP3 player with FM radio and microphone.
The operation is highlighted here. It takes less than an
hour and both the "mother" and the "son" are safe.

• Step 1
Remove the bottom cover and
the PCBs are exposed; at the same time, your heart rate will progressively raise.
By removal of the sealed sticker to unscrew
the bottom cover, the warranty contract void. Now it reaches the point of no
return.
I faced 2 risks : 1 - The
Microdrive is soldered to the machine and cannot be removed; and 2 - The
Microdrive cannot be used in CP8700. But go ahead ... |
|
|
• Step 2
Remove the 1st layer PCBs and the card
compartment is exposed. The
first risk removed, the Microdrive is connected to the machine by DIP
connectors with ribbon cable.
Take out the Microdrive carefully. |

|
• Step 3
See Hitachi 4GB Mircodrive!! |
|
|
• Step 4
Pulse 300, BP300 !!!
The most essential moment! Can it be used
in CP8700?
................................
The DC prompt me to format the card. Just
do it right now. |
|
|
• Step 5
Bingo! 322 nos. of RAW image in Coolpix 8700
(12MB/photo).
For fine JPG, it can take upto 1200
images! Increditable! |
|
|
• Step 6
Insert CF cards back to the MP3 player.
Someone
said that only SanDisk is the most realiable one available in the market. I use SanDisk
128MB. |
|
|
• Step 7
Recovery mode? What is it? Download the firmware and than
re-load it back into the MP3 player from
PC. |
|
|
• Step 8
Got it! It works. |
